Wishing you a great 2018

Soaring EagleThere’s a well-known story of a chicken farmer who found an eagle’s egg.  He put it in with his chickens and soon the egg hatched. The young eagle grew up with all the other chickens and whatever they did, the eagle did too, thinking it was a chicken, just like them.

Since the chickens couldn’t fly far the eagle only learned to fly a short distance as well. The eagle thought it was supposed to do that, and so it was all it could do, and accordingly all it did.

One day the eagle saw a bird flying high above him. Deeply stirred and impressed it asked the hens around what it was. “That’s the eagle; the king of the birds,” the hens said, “The eagle belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth, we are just chickens.”

So the eagle lived and died as a chicken, for that’s what it thought it was and all it could do.

That story may stir you to think about what it would mean for you to soar in 2018. Not just to live another year but the courage for 2018 to be different; to be great.

Think about this: greatness is not necessarily about being famous, but more about doing things in a great way. That takes great courage.

Courage to go for that SVQ.

Courage to love and forgive, to go the extra mile.

Courage to stand still and let go, or courage to get going and push through.

Courage to shut up or courage to speak up.

Courage to encourage, being kind and generous.

Courage to be vulnerable and ask for help or talk through a problem.

Courage not to go with the crowd but be true to yourself.

And sometimes ….. it takes the greatest courage of all to simply face another day.

The courage to be who you are called to be. That’s greatness.

“Always be a first-rate version of yourself and not a second-rate version of someone else.” Judy Garland.

“..get fresh strength, spread your wings and soar like eagles, run and don’t get tired, walk and don’t get weary” Isaiah

May 2018 be a great year for you!
