David Lonsdale reports on his Stirling Marathon experience

David Lonsdale Marathon Photo

I'm thrilled and delighted to report that I completed the inaugural Stirling Marathon today, in a little under 5 hours. The photo is me looking reasonably fresh at 7 miles; it's not how I looked towards the end! The course was incredible, commencing in the safari park and concluding underneath the castle. The throngs cheering us on throughout were hugely uplifting and, at times, overwhelming. A massive 'thank you' is due to those who donated to my charity fundraising effort ... you raised £1,438.50 (incl. gift aid) for Workplace Chaplaincy Scotland.

26.2 miles is a long distance, and after the way my legs felt on Sunday & Monday, I think this will be my one and only marathon! That said, my 16-year old son and I are signed up for the 7.5 mile Dunblane Road Race this coming Sunday (he wants to beat his dad, and probably will!).

Well done David - and your efforts are very much appreciated.
